The updated version of Mazda MX5 (Miata), introduced at Paris Motorshow, launched today in Japanese market in both soft top and folding metal roof variants.  New MX5 is powered by a revised version of same 2 liter four cylinder engine which kicks out 166 horse power. It will be available with a 5 or 6 speed manual, or a 6speed auto for the hardtop model. European spec is yet to be announced but won;t differ much. 2009 Mazda MX5 costs from 2,330,000 to 2,600,000 yen ($25,100 – $28,000) for the soft top models, and from 2,680,000 to 2,950,000 yen ($28,900 – $31,800) for the Power Retractable Hard Top.
