The new 2010 Skoda Octavia which was revealed in this year’s Paris motor show with a new face has now got two new variants, the hot RS version and the Scout crossover. Skoda Octavia has always been a cheap alternative for the VW Passat and with this new face and wider options they are looking for bigger market share.

As far as the styling matters, the RS is garnished with revised head and tail lights, grille and bumpers with bigger air inlets. And it needs more air because the engine under the bonnet is quit hot! It’s the 2.0 liter 200 hp TSI from Golf GTI which only needs 7.5 liters of petrol every 100 kilo meters. You can also have the Octavia RS with a 170 hp diesel engine which is  extremely economical averaging 5.7 liters per 100 km! The power is delivered through a six-speed manual or DSG gearbox.

The four wheel drive Scout also gets about the same revision for the exterior for 2010 and also feature a clever traction system which can transmit up to 85 percent of torque to the wheel which has better grip. It is available with two choice of engines, a 160 1.8 liter petrol or a diesel powered 2.0 liter developing 140.
