alonso wheel at F1: Renault banned from Valencia Grand Prix

Renault Formula1 team has been suspended from the upcoming European GP at Valencia following Fernando Alonso’s wheel loss during the Hungarian race, which also cost him victory! Stewards studied the team’s radio transmissions and conclude that Renault knowingly allowed Alonso to rejoin the race with a loose wheel nut. The team also failed to inform the driver about the problem as he contacted them by radio reporting an issue with that wheel.

Renault, already paid the necessary 6,000 euros appeal fee, announced that they will appeal the exclusion. The appeal must be lodged within 48 hours of the stewards’ decision, then Renault has 8 days to convince them!

Stewards found nothing wrong with Kimi Raikkonen’s clash with Hamilton and Vettel at the beginning of the race, but they blamed RedBull team for ‘unsafely releasing’ Mark Webber after a pitstop.
