Association of German Car Tuners (VDAT) has a “TUNE IT! SAFE!” program with the motto: “Only serious, safe tuning will bring the hoped-for driving pleasure!“, and every year they make a special concept car reflecting on this qualities. Here’s the 2010 car, and it’s a BMW 1-series Coupe Police car. In this project which was supported by the Police and the Federal Ministry for Transport, Building and Road Development, BMW provided a 123d diesel car and tuner AC Schnitzer turned it, safely, into this!
The AC Schnitzer “ACS1 2.3d Coupé“ features a full body kit with front spoiler for cars with M-Technik, rear skirt insert for cars with M-Technik, Schnitzer rear wing, Schnitzer rear roof spoiler, and sports mirrors.
That was for the exterior, inside the cabin is also revamped with new carbon interior incl. panels for door handles, carbon automatic gear knob, Recaro sports seats incl. side airbags, G-Force display, aluminum cover for “i-Drive system” “Black Line”, aluminum handbrake handle “Black Line”, aluminum pedal set, aluminum foot rest, floor mats.
AC Schnitzer has also done some serious technical works to make sure that this cop car won’t let the officers down in tricky situations! The diesel engine of this 123 has been given a performance upgrade to 177 kW / 241 HP, and 480 Nm. It is equipped with a 6-speed automatic transmission and can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.7 seconds. The car is also fitted with sports suspension which lowers the ride height by 30mm, assuring better handling. It also has HANKOOK Ventus S1 evo tires.
