As the world is thinking of new ways to save fuel and reduce pollutions, Brabus engineers are busy inserting oversized engines in undersized cars! This is their V12 Mercedes GLK, based on a car which is supposed to be an efficient city crossover, so the company only offers it with four or six-cylinder engines. But Brabus didn’t like it and unveiled their V8 engine about a year ago. Now though, they’ve just gone berserk and put their monstrous 750 hp Bi-turbo V12 under the bonnet of this innocent looking car to create the world’s fastest SUV!
As an engineering exercise, it is brilliant. But I’m afraid it is absolutely pointless in any other aspect. And you know the most ridiculous thing about it?! It’s priced at 397,000 euro!!! That’s why Brabus decided to unveil it at the upcoming Dubai Motor Show in UAE. You can’t find many people with more money than sense in Europe!
This V12 engine actually belongs to Mercedes 600 series, what Brabus does it taking that engine and throw almost all of it away! After this engine comes out of their garage it has a displacement of 6.3 liter and is sporting two big turbochargers and new crankshaft, pistons, connecting rods and camshafts. Therefore it chucks out a simply colossal 750 hp and 1,350 Nm torque! Mind you to stop it from ripping apart the five-speed gearbox they have limited the torque to only 1100 nm, twice as much as you get from a Lamborghini LP560!
This little devil is further equipped wit a limited slip differential for seamless delivery of power to the wheels, so it’s capable of doing 0-100 km/h in 4.2 seconds and a top speed of 322 km/h!
Brabus GLK V12 also wears the tuner’s Widestar body kit which makes it 5cm wider than the standard car and comes with LED lights, bigger air intakes, side steps, a roof spoiler and a rear diffuser. Those chunky fenders not only looks sporty, they also house the new and huge Brabus wheels which are 22-inch big and are wrapped in 285/25 ultra low profile tires. Other upgrades include high performance braking package and adjustable coil-over suspension.
As usual, Brabus also revamps the interior with new carbon fiber trimming and leather/alcantara upholstery, but the most interesting feature here is the illuminated door sills with Brabus V12 logo!
Brabus GLK V12 is the real thing, this is the king of the SUV’s for the next feww years to come. Only if I can test drive this monster.
