During the past decade the king of the urban jungle, Mercedes G-Class, was offered in the United Kingdom only as a left-hand-drive car and therefore it didn’t reach peak performance in sales. Now after 10 years Mercedes is again offering the G-Wagen as a right-hand-drive for the British market, but with a rather scary price tag!

In the UK market you can have the 2010 G-class with two engines, either the 3.5 liter diesel with the G350 CDI variant, or 5.5 liter supercharged V8 in the G55 AMG model. Based on the trim levels and options and everything the pricing is different, but an entry level starts from £57,975, while a well-equipped RHD G350 will cost you at least £79,975. And as for the G55 AMG, well that runs for £114,975!

Of course you have to have the G55, because the G-Wagen is a very cool car and that 221 hp diesel engine would ruin it, even though it averages 25.7 mpg. But the supercharged V8 of the AMG model kicks out nearly 500 hp and does zero to 60 mph in 5.5 seconds. Now, which one’s cooler?!

The list of standard equipments you get with the G-Class UK version includes Automatic climate control; automatic transmission, with high and low gear ratios; Bi-Xenon headlamps, heated seats with memory, leather upholstery (including the dashboard) as well as COMAND, a reverse parking aid and a Harman Kardon Logic 7 Sound system.

The Mercedes G-Class costs a lot of money, but this is not just a car, it’s an icon. It’s got personality and character, and that’s the best feature ever a car can possibly have! So it’s totally worth it.
