When it comes to chip tuning, no one does it better than the Superchips engineers. They really play magic with the car’s electronic control unit (ECU) and extract a whole lot more power out of it, that apparently even the manufacturer didn’t know is there! Their latest project is tweaking a BMW 135i, powered by a 3.0 liter twin-turbo straight six engine.
The power figures for the standard engine is 315 bhp and 394 Nm of torque, which is not bad at all. But when with the Superchips kit which optimizes the ignition, fuelling and turbo boost settings, the performance is boosted by 49 bhp / 70 Nm of torque.
In other words, this little Bimmer now has 360 bhp and 456 Nm of peak torque. The extra umpf really enhances the 135i’s driving experience by making it much more responsive. It is now capable of hitting 60 mph from standing still in 5.3 seconds, but they have left the 155mph speed limiter untouched.
This amazing kit is priced at £445 and has a 12 month / 30,000 warranty.
