We too wonder what in the world possessed Unichip to come up with a package for Series 2 Land Rover Discovery diesel, but they have! Of course they’ve done it to get more power, but all of the Series2 Discoveries around the world are now quite old and their miserable diesel engines are definitely much lower on power than they used to be when they were new.

But Unichip promises a healthy 49 hp upgrade with their new ECU kit. a brand-new 2.5-litre, five cylinder engine of the Discovery 2 had 135 bhp, but they couldn’t find a new so picked one that had 127 hp as tested. With Unichip package, it increased to 176 bhp and the torque went up from 217 lb.ft at 2919 rpm to 279 lb.ft at 2957 rpm, equating to a 63 lb.ft gain.

It’s brilliant, but it’s also the most pointless tuning job we’ve seen in a very long time! Specially as it’s priced at a whopping £630. I wonder if the car itself worth that much 🙂
