Everybody knows that SsangYong is a car company with some of the ugliest cars in the history of automotive! Anyone who’s seen their Musso knows what we’re on about. But they have two decent-looking cars, the Rexton and the Korando crossover which is designed by Giorgetto Giugiaro. SsangYong hopes the new 2011 Korando gets a fair share of the European market, even though the competition is fierce in this segment.
The Korando features SsangYong’s first monocoque construction so it offers a very sedan-like drive. It comes with choices of two or all-wheel-drive systems and a new Euro5 2.0 litre diesel engine which is powerful and efficient at 47 MPG. With CO2 emissions of just 157 g.km is also very clean, but on the power front, it only has 175PS. It has class leading towing capacity of two tonnes.
The car comes with 6-speed manual and automatic, and two trim levels, with a long list of standard and optional equipments and features.
The new Korando has to face better-prepared rivals such as Ford Kuga, Hyundai ix35, Kia Sportage, Nissan Qashqai and Volkswagen Tiguan in the European market, so in order to remain competitive it should come with a wonderfully low price tag!
