Just in time for Auto Shanghai 2011, GM China (SAIC-GM-Wuling: SGMW) released details of the new Baojun 630 mid-size sedan which is an affordable personal transportation mean!

Going on sale in China shortly after the Shanghai show, the Baojun comes with a kind of design and features which according to GM is “user-friendly” styling and equipment in line with local preferences. The car is a China-only model, but they say it also has global design elements in it.

The Baojun looks alright, specially that front grille is kinda cool. With a wheelbase of 2,640-mm it is also spacious inside and with more than 22 individual storage spaces for convenient storage and retrieval, it is also practical.

This being a family car it also has a comprehensive list of safety features including high-strength steel and the adoption of anti-lock brakes with electronic brakeforce distribution, three-point seat belts with early warning restraints, reverse drive radar, child safety seat fasteners and safety locks.

Power comes from a 1.5-liter DOHC engine, which generates maximum power of 81 kW/5,800 rpm and maximum torque of 146 Nm/4,200 rpm, which is designed for economy rather than performance and averages 6.9 liters per 100 kilometers and complies Euro IV standard.

The Baojun 630 will be manufactured at SGMW’s facility in , Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. To support the new brand, the government of Guangxi broke ground on a new passenger vehicle production base in . It will enhance SGMW’s ability to develop and produce additional Baojun models.
