Yep, it’s just a safety car. Infiniti is not going to try rallying, but to pace the rally cars in the 2011 Spain Rally Championship Season. They also supply safety cars for GT Championship of Spain.
The Infiniti safety car, or Work Car Zero as they call it, is a G37 Coupe with six-speed manual gearbox powered by an an all-aluminium six-cylinder engine developing 320 horsepower and maximum torque of 360 Nm, equipped with a standard limited slip differential.
The car is pretty much in standard specification but there has been a couple of necessary modifications including installation of a roll bar by VIMESA, Bilstein dampers, brake pads and liquid by GALFER, outdoor lights and siren, communications equipment and GPS, as well as SPARCO racing seats and seatbelts, a fire extinguishing system and equipment for the drivers plus Michelin high performance Pilot SuperSport tyres.
The car will be driven by Marc Blázquez, World TT Champion driving for Nissan, with Salvador Belzunces alongside as co-pilot who will be vital for assessing the state of the route before the competition.
