Wraps finally come off the new MINI Coupe, revealing a fantastic looking car that is all about driving fun and joy!
Alright, so maybe the red roof and stripes on this particular car make it look a bit sissy, but just imagine it in black. It’s a great piece of design. While the car has the obvious character of a MINI, it sits 52 mm lower and has a couple of unique designer touches that turn it into a sportscar.
You get the helmet-like roof design, sharply raked A-pillars, JCW aero kit, and an integrated rear spoiler that extends automatically at 80 km/h (50 mph). All these bits are not just for show, they also have aerodynamic purposes. MINI offers a wide range of color combination for this model.
Exterior dimensions:
Length: 3,734 millimetres (MINI Cooper Coupé: 3,728 millimeters)
Width: 1,683 millimetres
Height: 1,384 millimetres (MINI Cooper Coupé: 1,378 millimetres)
Wheelbase: 2,467 millimetres
Like a true sportscar, the MINI Coupe is a two-seater with a decent sized boot with an extremely high-opening tailgate that makes loading easier. The car offers a good level of convenience and features for its size.
Interior design clearly emphasising two-seat layout; oval recesses in the roof liner provide extra headroom for the driver and front passenger; sports seats fitted as standard (MINI Cooper S Coupé, MINI Cooper SD Coupé, MINI John Cooper Works Coupé); two-piece luggage compartment cover in striking, three-dimensional design.
Some of the standard kit you get with the car include speed-sensitive power steering, electrically adjustable exterior mirrors, Park Distance Control, height-adjustable seats, air conditioning (MINI Cooper S Coupé, MINI Cooper SD Coupé, MINI John Cooper Works Coupé) and an audio system with MP3-compatible CD player and AUX IN connection as standard; optional equipment includes black headlight housing, xenon headlights, Adaptive Headlights, Comfort Access, automatic climate control, automatically dimming rear-view mirror and exterior mirrors, storage package, preparation for a rear luggage carrier rack, the John Cooper Works Pack and exclusive options from the MINI Yours range; a variety of entertainment and communications functions unparalleled in the segment: Harman Kardon Hi-Fi loudspeaker system, Bluetooth mobile phone preparation, USB audio interface; innovative MINI Connected functions – including web radio, Google local search and Google Send to Car services, reception of RSS news feeds, plus in-car use of Facebook and Twitter – available in conjunction with the MINI Visual Boost radio or MINI navigation system.
The best thing about the Coupe however, is the way it goes. With a range of powerful petrol and diesel four-cylinder engines form BMW, and a fine-tuned chassis, you will be treated with a great level of driving fun every time you take the car out for a spin.
Despite being a front-wheel-drive car, it comes with a range of electronic systems such as Electric Power Steering and DSC (Dynamic Stability Control) as standard, DTC (Dynamic Traction Control) with EDLC (Electronic Differential Lock Control) optional (standard on MINI John Cooper Works Coupé), so it feels like a posh go kart on the road.
