As promised, Mercedes Benz demo driver Mauro Calo smashed the world record for the longest car drift at Mercedes-Benz World, Surrey, using a Mercedes C63 AMG.
The magnificent C63 in the capable hands of Mauro Calo managed to keep powersliding for 2308 metres, beating the previous record of 394 metres. The record is officially certified by the Guinness book of world records.
We quite like to take a look at the car’s rear tires after this! The C63 with over 450 hp is the perfect car for the job. That said, the car’ excessive tail happiness makes it slower than a BMW M3 round a track. But that’s OK with us, because the mad Merc is much more fun.
To achieve the record breaking distance, Mauro chose part of the Handling Circuit at Mercedes-Benz World, Weybridge Surrey. The circuit provided a complete 360 degree circle of tarmac which saw him complete almost 8 laps.
Andrew Mallery, Commercial Operations Director, Mercedes-Benz Cars commented: “When Mauro approached us to hold his record breaking attempt on the circuit at Mercedes-Benz World we were happy to offer him the support. He has been a valuable member of the driving experience team for several years and is a respected driver in the industry, so there was no doubt he would achieve his aim”.
