Kia has already proved they know how to make a successful coupe with the Koup. Now it’s time to step it up a bit.
Rumor has it at the next Frankfurt Motor Show Kia will unveil a concept car that is the base for their next coupe. It will be twice as hot at the Koup, will feature rear-wheel-drive and will be powered by a V8 powertrain. There will be another concept car with the same underpinnings to be shown at Detroit motor show next year. Kia will then decide which one to make.
The production version, which is set for 2014-15 debut, won’t get the V8 engine probably, but it certainly will be rear-wheel-drive. This rear-drive platform will also underpins Kia’s Mx-5-rivaling sportscar which has been confirmed by the officials. Good news is, both cars will be designed by Peter Schreyer, former Audi designer and the man responsible for the bewitching Kia Forte Koup.
Kia is obviously trying to put on young and sporty image with these new models. In this quest they will launch a new sub-brand responsible for sport and high performance models.
