We already knew that the CLS Shooting Brake (pictures here) is going into produciton for 2014 launch. But Mercedes is apparently working on another SB model based on the upcoming CLC.

The CLC, as reported earlier, is a smaller version of the CLS featuring the same four-door coupe styling. The Shooting Brake version of this car will be competing with cars like Audi A5 Sportack, and more importantly, the upcoming BMW 3 series GT.

German car makers are seeing a strong new market for small, stylish and practical cars.

Shooting Brake cars can very well ruin the market for estate and wagon cars, because for a little compromise on the luggage space, they offer a much better styling and a cooler character. The Mercedes CLC Shooting Brake is expected to go on sale in the U.S. in 2013.
