Audi RS5 Cabrio Patent 1 at 2013 Audi RS5 Cabrio Patent Drawings

The cabriolet version of the new Audi RS5 revealed early as the official drawings submitted to the patent office leak out.

Just like the previous RS5 Cabrio, the new model which will be launched next year as a 2013 model, is a four-seater drop-top featuring a canvas roof. Audi could have gone for a folding metal job, but that would have made the car heavier and could also affect interior space. Plus, soft tops always looked good on Audis, so why change it!

Engine-wise, there will be no change over the coupe and it gets the same 4.2 liter V8 engine that makes 450 hp and 430 Nm of torque. With a sub 5-second 0 to 100 km/h sprint time and a limited top speed of 250 km/h, the RS5 cabrio will be one of the fastest in its class.

Regardless of the performance and quality, the RS5, and indeed other sporty, drop-top Audi models, have always been amongst the classiest and coolest cars to be seen in.
