Besides their latest EcoDynamics models, Kia decided EcoVelocity show is just the place to also reveal the 2012 Rio to the British public.

Those going to the Battersea Power Station to visit the EcoVelocity show will also get to see the new Picanto city-car as well as low-emission versions of the cee’d family hatchback and Sportage crossover, and test drive them on a purpose built test route.

The new Kia Rio is not a hybrid or electric car, but its 1.1 CRDi ‘1’ version emits only 85g/km CO2 and offering 88.3mpg. That’s better than most hybrids. The extremely efficient three-cylinder diesel engine is aided in its quest to deliver ultra low CO2 emissions by longer gearing, a stop-start system, low-rolling resistance tyres and aerodynamic tweaks to reduce drag.

Kia’s stylish Sportage crossover, with its 135g/km1.7 CRDi EcoDynamics turbodiesel and the cee’d hatchback with its very low 103g/km 1.6 CRDi turbodiesel will also be on display.
