British team Excite Rallye Raid announced its plans to run three Range Rover Evoques at 2012 and 2013 Rally Dakar.
Cars are provided by RaBe Race Cars who has extensive experience in the sport. They wanted combine their expertise with skills of a professional rally team to create an unbeatable all-British Dakar contender.
The Evoques they will be using will be powered by BMW engines, apparently JLR had nothing suitable in store for them. It’s the N57 3.0 ltr diesel unit with 275 Hp 650Nm (restricted) output mated to a ZF 6 speed / two speed transfer case transmission.
Other features include 8 x Reiger coil overs, Compomotive Atacama RallyRaid wheel 16″ wheels, BF Goodrich desert race G series tires, and a 260 Litre fuel tank. The car weighs 1,900 kg, and is possibly the best-looking Dakar racer ever!
The Excite team’s preparations and training programme are ongoing at the present time and the next significant target is to participate in several off-road rallies in 2012 to help with the car’s development and to build up time in the new vehicle before taking on the Dakar Rally in 2013.
