Alpina’s success with the B6 GT3 resulted in launch of another new racing car based on the BMW 3 Series: the B3 GT3.

The B3 is instantly recognizable as an Alpina with the traditional spoilers and wheels and stuff. The B3 GT3 special edition exhibits a number of aerodynamic features which have been directly derived from the experience gained in motor racing. It gets a front splitter in addition to the spoiler and also a carbon wing at the back.

It also gets Alpina GT3 CLASSIC 19″ lightweight alloy wheels, with MICHELIN Pilot Sport Cup+ tyres. A set of fully adjustable coilover suspension system is also used based on Alpina’s experiences in motorpsort.

The engine in the racer car is the same twin turbocharged 3.0liter in line six-cylinder engine as the road car, but because of the Akrapovic’s titanium exhausts with reduced back pressure it makes 8 more bhp. So you get 408hp at 6000rpm and 540Nm of torque at 4500rpm. They also make a fabulous noise.

Alpina will only make 99 units of the B3 GT3 racer, each priced at around € 90.000. The car will be available from Spring 2012.
