Traditionally before BMW M division drops a hot new model we get the Alpina version of that car. So please welcome the Alpina B6 Coupe.
Granted, they have already made the B6 Cabrio, but that only has 507 hp. This coupe comes with no less than 540hp. That is more M6ish, isn’t t. It is of course the same twin-turbo V8 that makes that power, plus 700 Nm of torque.
Performance-wise it really renders the M6 pointless as it can go from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.4 seconds and reach a top speed of 320 km/h. That is fast enough for me.
But don’t think Alpina has taken a 6-series and turned it into an unforgiving hard-core performance machine. This is still a very comfortable, very elegant GT car. It is only when you engage the S mode that it become a road-ripping monster. It’s kinda like the M button.
for maximum sensation of driving, Alpina has teamed up with Akrapovic to fit this car with a set of lightweight titanium exhaust system. They make a superb noise while helping with the performance by adding a few horsepower and shedding a couple of kilos off the weight.
One thing we don’t like about the Alpina is the styling. Their traditional styling cues are starting to look old-fashioned now, and that rear wing, that is just wrong. We don’t care if this kit improves aerodynamics and what not.
Interior features include high resolution information display with black panel LCD technology. A sport steering wheel, hand-stitched in LAVALINA leather. Blue illuminated entry sills with logo. Or the classic Alpina exotic wood. The B6 Bi-Turbo features an extensive range of standard equipment, including leather upholstery, fully adjustable comfort seats with heating system, navigation system with preparation for Bluetooth mobile phone, USB audio interface, Xenon lights and LED fog lights.
You know what, we are going to wait for the real M6 to arrive.
