Head of Audi design Walter de’ Silva confirmed to Autonews Europe his company will launch a BMW X6 rival.
“We will definitely launch a sportier crossover in between the Q7 and Q5,” de’ Silva said in the interview. But he didn’t make it clear when.
The long-rumored Q6 will obviously slot between the Q7 and Q5 sie-wise, and will have a coupe-SUV design with low roof and a very curvy back. It will be definitely be very nice, but will it be as good as the X6?
The X6 started this segment and has been the king of the hill ever since mainly because there’s no real rival for it. But now SUV-coupe crossovers are growing in numbers with this Audi, Mercedes MLC and maybe even the new Maserati SUV.
Audi is also looking at the idea of making smaller SUVs, a Q4 probably to slot between the Q3 (pictured above) and the new Q5. But apparently that depends on whether or not BMW makes the X4.
