Along with the new Peugeot 107, today we also get our first look at its sister Citroen C1 which has been given a very nice facelift.
The C1 is our favorite of the trio of the city cars Peugeot, Citroen and Toyota has been making for a couple of years based on a shared platform. It has always been the cheapest as well.
The new C1’s upgraded features at a glance include LED daytime running lights, a CD audio system with Citroën’s integrated Connecting Box (Bluetooth® system with USB socket) and an Electronic Gearbox System with steering-mounted paddles, and of course the 99g/km three-cylinder engine.
The 68hp 1.0 liter unit in the Citroen returns a fuel economy of 65.7mpg. however if you get it with the Electronic Gearbox System, the economy drops to 62.8 mpg (combined) and 104g/km of CO2. But then the EGS is much more fun.
Styling-wise, the new C1 also gains new ‘Notus’ design 14” wheels and is available with ‘Rift’ 14” alloy wheels, as standard, on top of the range models. The range of body colours also includes Scarlet red, Electra blue, Lipizzan white, Caldera black and two grey tones – one light, Gallium grey, and one dark, Carlinite grey.Citroën has also finished the grille with a chrome strip available from the mid-range trim level.
Inside the cabin, it comes with stylish new ‘Orsai’ upholstery and entry-level models come with Mistral ‘Nokimat’ cloth. A Leather/Alcantara option is now available. As for the equipments, the all-new CD audio system comes with a Connecting Box (optional from the second trim level and standard on top of the range models), which is able to read all MP3 formats and is equipped with a Bluetooth® function. It is accompanied by USB and jack hook-ups at the base of the central console.
