Ford has come up with a neat animation showcasing their new door concept for the B-Max, for those who didn’t read about it.

It’s a simple and ingenious solution this Easy Access Doors. The trick is to remove the B0pillar do both front and rear passengers can get in and out of the vehicle more easily. They’ve done this by integrating the pillar into the structure of the sliding rear doors. So there’s no compromise on the car’s rigidity, and safety, should it be involved in a severe side impact.

“We engineered the body to keep all the benefits of the new door concept, while making the structure strong, stiff and light,” said Darren Palmer, Product Development Quality Director, Ford of Europe. “Creating a strong, stable body is great for handling. The B-MAX is just as stiff as the latest Fiesta, and will be just as fun to drive too.”
