Mercedes Benz released official sketches of a new urban delivery van they are about to launch, called the Citan.

Now, if you are struggling to see what’s interesting about that, well, nothing really, but you see that front-end? That is pretty much the face of the new A-Class. The headlights also preview the new look of Mercedes mid-range cars.

As for the Citan itself, its name is derived from the words “City” and “Titan” and its designed to handle high-caliber city logistic tasks, according to Mercedes. Developed jointly with Renault-Nissan, the Citan will be available with a broad range of economical and low-emission diesel and petrol engines – including a BlueEFFICIENCY package. A version powered by an electric engine is already being planned.

Despite being a van, Mercedes promises the Citan will have all the qualities you’d expect from the brand, such as quality, economic efficiency, safety and dynamic driving. The market launch of the Citan will take place in the autumn of 2012. It will be on show to the general public for the first time in September at the IAA Commercial Vehicles show in Hanover.
