Volvo must have the lousiest press officers, because this is the fourth time that official pictures of the V40 leak out to the web.

It’s an astonishing looking car this new V40. For a family hatchback it is brilliant, and it perfectly fills the gap between the smaller C30 and the S60 sedan. This Volvo has already given the Mercedes B Class and Audi A3 plenty of reasons to be worried.

The new set of leaked pictures also includes the first shots of the interior (scroll down to see them). The cabin is as cool as the exterior, while remaining very Volvoish. The traditional Volvo knobs and controls are all there, but it has a new-found air of modernity with a big touchscreen right at the top of the dash.

Official details of the car are expected to be released soon. The actual world debut will take place at the Geneva Motor Show early next month.
