The new Volvo V40 suffered a lot from leaked pictures prior to its official debut at the Geneva Motor Show. It’s all official now, and the V40 is the center of attention at Volvo’s booth. The car would have had a big old smile on its face if it weren’t for the new Mercedes A Class and Audi A3, also revealed in Geneva. It’s a very fine, premium hatchback with a great design and lots of nice features. But the Merc and Audi are also very very good cars.

The real winner of this competition is the customer shopping for a new family hatchback.

The V40 is a five-door, five-seater version of the C30, but to look at it’s more similar to the XC60 crossover. It’s a fine looking brute, but Volvo offers a sporty kit as well for a more distinctive design.

It includes deflectors, a twin-coloured rear diffuser, a striping kit and enlarged rectangular, chromed twin tail pipes. Diamond-cut 18-inch alloy wheels with contrasting grey detailing and a roof spoiler.

Volvo has also utilized a great number of LEDs in styling the V40. You;ll find them on Front position lights, Turn indicators in the door mirrors, Rear position lights, Rear number plate illumination, High positioned brake light, and Daytime Running Lights (DRL).

The all-new Volvo V40 is available with a fixed panorama glass roof that stretches from the front windscreen to the backrest of the rear seats. It is tinted and designed to reduce infrared radiation into the passenger compartment. This is one of those premium features that set this car apart form the competition.

The interior of the all-new Volvo V40 is designed around people with a strong emphasis on ergonomics, comfort and an engaging driving experience. The choice of materials and colours emphasises the luxurious feeling of quality and craftsmanship.

You have the choice of three colors here: Charcoal, Charcoal/Blond, or Espresso/Blond. Leather seats are also available in a new Azure Blue accent colour. Textiles are certified according to Oeko-Tex Standard 100. Leather surfaces are chrome-free, which apparently is good news for people with allergies!
