Tuningwerk unveils the most powerful tuning package yet for the BMW 1M coupe with 521 PS. To get that much power out of the car’s 330 PS straight-six, they throw almost all of it away and replaced the parts with high performance ones. They call this little beast the 1M RS. Oh, the livery is just for funsies. It’s not a safety car. You can buy this, if you have 120,000 Euro to spare.
The engine modification program for this car consists of tweaked ECU and turbochargers, high-performance cooling system, and a completely new titanium exhaust system. The result is 520 PS and 614 Nm of torque, which is a lot in a car the size of a shoe.
That power is so big for the car that if you unleash it all, the 1M goes past 300 km/h.
To make the car behave itself at that kind of speed Tuningwerk has fitted it with a locking differential with a Drexler lock, racing clutch and a modified transmission with with 3.45 ratio. The chassis is also tweaked with H&R lightweight stabilizer bars, 9″ ATS forged wheels wrapped in Dunlop Super Maxx high performance tires. High performance braking system is also included.
The tuner also puts a GT4 air splitter at front and a big wing at the back for aerodynamic purposes. They have also replaced the seats with carbon fiber Recaro Pole Position models.
It is a fabulous car to drive, the true definition of pocket rocket. The thing is, 120 grand can buy you an Aston Martin, or a Ferrari.
