VolvoXC90 is really starting to show its age now. The car has been around for almost a decade now, but Volvo is reluctant to let it go, still squeezing it for more juice. The thing is, they don’t even bother with some decent upgrades. This is the 2013 modelyear XC90, and the changes are so minor you don’t even notice them. Still, it has a base price of $39,500!
Some of the pointless styling tweaks the old girl has received in its new model include new body color front and rear bumpers, sill moldings and wheel arches, some LED lights, new silver front bumper bar, chrome taillight trim, silk matte exterior rearview mirrors, air intake décor trim and 18-inch “Thalia” alloy wheels. For the interior, the 2013 model gets leather strap on the tailgate, sanded silver trims, red wood trims on higher grade models, and new floor mats. Meanwhile the R-Design treatment includes 19-inch ‘Ixion’ alloy wheels and updated upholstery and trims.
As mentioned, all that mascara can’t really cover the wrinkles in the XC’s face.
In America the XC90 is only offered with the 3.2-liter in-line six-cylinder engine, developing 240 horsepower and 236 lb.-ft. of torque. A six-speed “Geartronic” automatic transmission is standard while all-wheel drive with Instant Traction is optional on all XC90s.
