Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 has just been announced as the official pace car for the 2012 Indy 500, and already it’s got down to the business. Here’s some footage of the car running practice laps at the Indianapolis track in preparation for the big day. The 640-hp 2013 Corvette ZR1 is the 11th Corvette to pace America’s most famous car race, and it’s also the most powerful car ever to do the honors.

The 2013 Corvette ZR1 Pace Car is fitted with the 60th anniversary styling package – available for all 2013 Corvettes. It celebrates the last year of production for the current-gen ‘Vette.

The 60th Anniversary Package features an Arctic White exterior with a Blue Diamond leather-wrapped interior with suede accents. Convertible models will have a blue top.  Additional content includes a ZR1-style rear spoiler, special badging, gray-painted brake calipers and the “60th” logo on the wheel center caps, steering wheel and seat headrests.
