Last time we heard about Porsche’s sub-Panamera model was more than a year ago. Back then we had reports about two new models in the pipeline, called Cajun and Pajun, with the first one being a crossover and the latter a mid-size sedan. Now the crossover has been confirmed as Porsche Macan, but the sedan, well that’s still a few years away.
Based on the latest reports Porsche Pajun – hopefully they will change the name like they did with the Cajun – will be released in 2017. The car slots below the Panamera, and is poised to be a rival for cars like Mercedes E-Class or BMW 5Series.
For the Pajun to accomplish that goal, it will be priced much lower than the Panamera. The car has a projected starting price of about $80,000, which is still more than its rivals, but it is a Porsche after all. If Panamera’s dynamics and driving characteristics are anything to go by, the Pajun will set new standards in the mid-szie sedan segment.
The only concern is the design. Some say the Pajun will be a four-door coupe. Well, Porsche has five years to come up with something good.
