Things are running smoothly at Tesla, with all the plans regarding the launch of Model S well underway. Actually, it’s better than that. They are way ahead of schedule. The new Tesla Model S was supposed to launch in July, but they just announced June 22 as the official release date. That’s when the first customers will take delivery of their gorgeous electric sedan.
Tesla is counting heavily on the Model S to improve the brand’s image, and finally bring in some serious money. The roadster was a good technological exercise, but they lost too much money on it. The Model S has better chance of success because a. unlike the Roadster it is actually pretty, and b. it’s not a sports car, but a normal sedan.
Tesla CEO Elon Musk confirmed launch of the Model S via twitter, saying the car just passed its safety crash test with five stars, which is the maximum possible. The Model S will be available with new options, not all of them completely relevant to the average customers. For instance, it gets customizable regenerative braking levels, steering resistance, and suspension.
Tesla Model S is a very fine product. They spent the last three years fine tuning it to make sure the finished product is impeccable. And indeed it is. But excellence has its price! the Model S starts at $77,500 for the base model.
