Ever heard of Didit Hediprasetyo? We neither. Apparently, he’s an Indonesian designer who has a light touch – according to BMW – so they decided to work with him on a special edition 7 Series Individual. Thing is, with a car like the 7er which costs well over 100 grand, when it comes to special editions people like big names like Versace or Giorgio Armani. But BMW thought this fella can do better, so let’s see what’s what.
This version of the Individual 7-Series is limited to five units, and with each one Didit will do it up based on the client’s requests and desires. This one right here is inspired by ‘by the image of a lavender sky at sunrise in a serene desert landscape’ and features Frozen Diamond Metallic finish and an interior covered in Merino Silk Grey and contrasting leather piping in Merino Platinum.
The cabin is further decorated with Alcantara or fulled nappa leather on the roof lining, the A, B and C-pillars, the sun visors and the rear shelf. By way of contrast to this subtle colour scheme, Piano Black lacquer finish is used for various interior trim elements while the floor mats are lined with black ostrich leather.
The combination of these luxury stuff with BMW’s space-age dials and displays has created a cabin that looks cool and crisp, but not really warm and welcoming.
As for the toys, you get refrigerator box in the back and the champagne glass holders in the rear centre armrest, while documents can be held on a stylish folding table lined with silk grey leather. Screens provide internet use and entertainment, and there’s also a dog basket finished in silk grey leather and Alcantara and a vanity compartment built into the roof liner.
So there you go. If you always wanted an Indonesian 7-Series, here’s one.
