The Chinese have not yet fully mastered the art of making cars, but they are entering the world of tuning by acquiring some if the biggest names in business. They recently bought German tuning center Carlsson. To celebrate the deal, Carlsson announced they will make seven units of their C25 super car – based on Mercedes SL65 AMG – and name them Super GT. They are all obviously for the Chinese market.
And they are all sold already, apparently. The C25 Super GT lives up to its name by being about 180 kg lighter than the base model. It is still a pretty heavy car, but the lighter weight will make it faster and more agile. Surprisingly though, these Chinese C25s have ditched the original V12 engine for a 450 hp V8. Despite this, each of the cars sport a price tag of around $630,000 in China after tax and stuff.
Visually, the C25 is the same as before, with Carlsson custom headlights, bumpers, fenders, taillights, side skirts and exhausts fitted to the SL. So this Chinese C25 is uglier and less powerful than the car on which it’s based. Way to go!
