There used to be a time when having a turbocharger in your car was very cool and meant your car is faster than everything else out there. These days though, turbos are used not to boost the power, but mainly to enhance the engines’ efficiency, which is fair enough. This also means you can have a turbo car for a small amount of money. Something like this, the 2013 Buick Verano Turbo which starts at $29,990.
For that you get a Verano powered by an Ecotec 2.0L four-cylinder engine with direct injection and continuously variable valve timing rated at 250 horsepower (187 kW) at 5300 rpm and 260 lb.-ft. (353 Nm) of torque at 2000 rpm. It does 0-60 mph acceleration in an estimated 6.2 seconds, and has an EPA-estimates miles per gallon rating of 20/31 city/highway.
The Verano turbo comes with a six-speed manual gearbox as standard, with an automatic option available.
The Verano Turbo is also distinguished visually by dual exhaust, sport pedals and rear spoiler, as well as more standard equipments such as IntelliLink connectivity, a Bose 9-speaker audio system, leather-appointed upholstery, push-button start, rear park assist and rearview camera, radar-based side blind zone alert and rear cross-traffic alert, heated front seats and a heated steering wheel. A power sunroof and navigation are optional.
The car offers incredibly good value for the money you pay for it. And it’s a Turbo!
