Some say the new Porsche Boxster S is such a cracking car, it makes the 911 cabriolet look completely pointless. We don’t know about that. Yes, the Boxster is an amazing sports car, and the new 981 model looks pretty amazing. But it’s not as dignified as the 911, especially the 991 version, and as you can see in this video it loses to the big daddy in a drag race as well.

In this test the 911 Cab is fitted with a PDK, while the Boxster has a manual gearbox. If the Boxster had the PDK too, the result might have been different. Both these cars have their own unique qualities. It’s just that the 911’s advantages over the Boxi might not be enough to justify the price difference.
