BMW Concept Active Tourer is the absolute highlight of German car maker’s booth at this year’s Paris Motor Show for a couple of reasons. First, it’s a BMW concept car; second, it is a showcase of BMW’s latest technology features; and third, it previews the upcoming 1 Series GT production car.
We’ve already gone through the details and specs of the car, now let’s check out the interior.
Being inside the Active Tourer is like being in an actual iPad. You are surrounded with flashing lights and displays showing you lots of stuff. Naturally, there is an iDirve knob in the center console which communicates with an 8-inch tablet-like display on the top of the dashboard, and also with a 10-inch LCD that poses as the instrument cluster.
And as if those were not enough, it also has a Heads-up Display for good measure. If you go in the back, you’ll find a couple more LCD’s there as well.
All that geeky high-tech stuff doesn’t mean there is no art in this car. There is. The design of the cabin and the materials used to make it are all top notch and give the interior an air of absolute luxury and refinement.
There is a nice glowing orange light that dominates the entire cabin by going across the dashboard, door panels and bits of the consoles. It is compelmeneted by orange stitching on the seats, and orange graphics in the computers. It’s very thoughtful.
