BMW’s new Active concept car, dubbed Active tourer, combines so many qualities in one small package that it’s kind of hard to fathom who BMW is aiming this car at. It will be produced, sooner or later, as the BMW 1 Series GT. So if it’s going to have a hybrid plug-in powertrain, that fancy interior with all those iPad stuff going on, and that big spacious boot, it will start a whole new niche. As a concept it’s brilliant, but will it work as a production model?
This video will give you an overview of the most notable features in BMW Concept Active Tourer:
With a system output of over 140 kW/190 bhp, the combination of combustion engine and electric motor enables the BMW Active Tourer Concept to accelerate in less than eight seconds from standing to 100 km/h, while the maximum speed achieved is around 200 km/h. The average fuel consumption is less than 2.5 litres per 100 kilometres, with a CO2 emissions level of less than 60 g/km.
