AMG dispatched its ambassador, the ex-formula One and current DTM driver, David Coulthard to the Nurburgring to drive the new Mercedes SLS AMG GT and film a tour of the vehicle for the public. It’s the Nurburgring GP track David drives the SLS on, but that is enough to put a big smile on the Scotsman’s face and pump him up to talk us through the details of this new, sportier version of the big Benz.
Here’s the lowdown on the Mercedes SLS GT:
This version of the SLS boasts enhanced driving dynamics and even better race track performance. With a maximum output of 435 kW (591 hp), the optimised AMG SPEEDSHIFT DCT 7-speed sports transmission and the redeveloped AMG RIDE CONTROL Performance suspension, the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT – which is available both as a Coupé and a Roadster – SLS AMG GT accelerates from zero to 100 km/h in 3.7 seconds, and can reach a speed of 200 km/h in 11.2 seconds. Visually, the GT gets darkened headlamps and tail lights as well as red-painted brake callipers.
