Volkswagen announced launch of the new Amarok Canyon special edition from early 2013. The car is the production version of a concept car with the same name, presented at the Geneva Motor Show earlier this year. The production version inherits most of the concept car’s good stuff such as AT wheels, lamp bar, styling bar and interior details, and of course that Copper Orange paint job.
To further distinguish the Canyon from normal models, it is also fitted with darkened rear light clusters, the designer undercarriage guards in body colour, the wheelarches in contrasting black and the wording ‘Canyon’ on doors and rear hatch.
Good new is Amarok Canyon is as capable as its looks suggest. It is available with both TDI engines and permanent or on-demand four-wheel drive (4MOTION), and comes as standard with 17-inch wheels with 245/70 R 17 AT-tyres. Optional extras include a set of 18-inch wheels, and a differential lock on the rear axle to make the pickup truck even more off-road worthy.
As for the interior, you get partially leather seats have two-tone colouring in Moon Rock and Anthracite with decorative stitching, leather-wrapped steering and gear lever, and sun visors in contrasting matt chrome.
Amarok Canyon will also be available with a practical hard top, and if you don’t like Copper Orange, you can also have it in ‘Reflex Silver’, ‘Natural Grey’ and ‘Sand Beige’.
