After years of pondering, Volvo finally seems to be ready to put the Polestar C30 into production. They will only make 250 units, mind you, and all of them are apparently for the American market. And apart from the looks, it’s nothing like the 400-horsepowr concept car. So it’s basically just a slightly hotter version of the standard car.
Volvo C30 Polestar will get the good old 2.5-liter turbocharged five-cylinder engine, albeit with a few upgrades like new software, developing 250 horsepower and 273 lb-ft of torque. It comes with either a six-speed manual or a five-speed Geartronic automatic, and manages about 30 mpg highway.
C30’s tuned powertrain is complemented by a sport chassis featuring stiffer dampers, mono-tube dampers, and sharper steering ratio, as well as set of 17-inch wheels. So on paper at least it should handle pretty good.
Visually the C30 Polestar gets an R-Design body kit and only comes in Volvo’s favorite Rebel Blue color, but the wheels are finished in matte black to make a nice contrast with the exterior color.
The production C30 Polestar might not have the power of the concept, but then it doesn’t have its price tag either. In fact it costs $32,445. it will go on sale form November.
