Fuel efficiency matters a lot for commercial vehicles, because they are practically running all day long doing commercial stuff. With that in mind, Citroen entered a version of its Nemo Van, a Nemo HDi 75 manual 660 LX van to be more precise, in the 2012 MPG Marathon, and beat all the other light commercial vehicles by achieving 77 MPG.
During the two day event, the diesel Nemo van – driven by LCV journalist John Kendall, with co-driver Dr. Paul Nieuwenhuis – covered a distance of 370 miles through the Cotswolds, Bristol, South Wales and the South Midlands, in various road conditions while maintaining an average speed of 30 mph, averaging 77.51 MPG.
The Nemo wasn’t the only Citroen in the rally showing great economy performance. A Citroen C1 VTR 1.0i 68 manual was also entered by Derbyshire Community Health Services NHS Trust’s Mark Armstrong-Read and Geoff Murray. That little hatchback achieved an incredible 84.7mpg. Looks like Citroen knows its way round diesel engines.
