Jay Leno is making the most of his trip to Japan. His latest effort is trying o drift a Scion FR-S. He has Drift King Keiichi Tsuchiya as instructor and an empty track all to himself. Despite that he never comes to grips with going sideways. But don’t hold that against the old man.

There are of course a couple of issues with Jay’s plan. Firstly, Tsuchiya doesn’t speak English and has to mime what he means, which doesn’t really work. Second, Jay barely manages to squeeze himself behind the wheel of this rather small car, so the driving position is less than ideal. And last but not least, he has to start the slide using handbrake – because the engine is so gutless – and that makes the whole thing much trickier.

Maybe if the FR-S had a bit more power he could have done better. Nice try anyway.
