Chrysler Group’s Belvidere Assembly Plant has made a one-off Dodge Dart Police vehicle for the Belvidere Police Department. Actually, It is not a police car as such. It’s a normal Dart with a light bar and Belvidere Police Department graphics. But that’s OK, because BPD only uses it for non-patrol duties.
They already have a fleet of Dodge Charger Pursuit patrol cars, but wanted something for ceremonial purposes and stuff like that. To be more precise, they wanted something built in their own town. So Belvidere Police Chief Jan Noble asked Chrysler is they can make them one, and they were more than happy to do it; so long as it’s a Dart! Noble probably waned a Charger, but hey.
Even though it’s a one of a kind car, Chrysler will use that feedback to determine whether a non-patrol Dodge Dart police vehicle could be marketed to other law enforcement agencies in the U.S. and abroad.
The first mission for the Dodge Dart Police vehicle was escorting the food drive procession from the Belvidere Assembly Plant to the local county pantry in Capron, Ill.
