This year BMW celebrates the 40th anniversary of the BMW M GmbH, a subsidiary of the brand formed in 1972 under the ‘BMW Motorsport GmbH’ name to make race cars. Today BMW M is not only responsible for the German car maker’s racing programs, they are best known for their amazing road cars. They are like an elite special forces unit in a big army.

BMW recently held a special event at the Nurburgring circuit where the celebrated not only the 40th anniversary of the brand, but also winning the 2012 DTM championship title in their comeback season. They also unveiled the BMW M3 DTM Champion Edition and the new M6 Gran Coupe ad the event.
