The new 2013 Mercedes E-Class comes with a wide range of diesel and petrol engines (details here), but the most important variant – at least until the E63 arrives – is the E300 BlueTEC Hybrid. Mercedes actually released a separate prom video for this one.
Apart form a few subtle details, such as the hybrid badge at the back and a unique display in the instrument cluster, the E300 Hybrid looks the same as the normal models, and that is great. It is also fairly powerful; the hybrid system in the E300 develops 230 horsepower and a pretty sizable 500 Nm of torque. So it should also drive like a normal car. It goes from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.5 seconds, which is on the par with a normal four-cylinder model, and very good for a large hybrid sedan.
Economy-wise, the E300 Hybrid averages 4.1 liter/100km, with 107 g/km Co2 emissions.
