Nissan X-Trail is one of the sweetest cars in the crossover segment, but it never looked good, not with those boxy body and simpleton-inspired front-end. Well that is all about to change, on the evidence of these leaked patent images.

Granted, it is still fairly boxy, but it now has more curves, especially in the hip area, and that makes it easy on the eyes. The best part is the front-end design, which appear to be nicked straight from the Hi-Cross Concept, unveiled at last year’s Geneva Motor Show.

That is basically what the new X-Trail is; the production version of the Hi-Cross. So it will probably make its debut at this year’s Geneva show. The concept car was a hybrid, but the X-Trail will probably share its engine lineup with the Qashqai and the Juke.
