So it becomes clear why the new Maserati Quattroporte loses to cars like the Jaguar XJ when comparing ride comfort, but thrashes them in terms of handling. The Maser’s chassis has been tuned at the Nurburgring, as explained by the head engineers in this video.
That is both good and bad for the Quattroporte. Nurburgring-tuned chassis and suspension ensure the car lives up to the expectation on the track or on twisty roads. But this is, before everything else, a big luxury saloon. And they are mainly designed for comfortable long-distance journeys, mainly on the freeways. The QP’s ride kinda spoils that point.
