Last week Bertone released a dark teaser picture promising a new concept car for this year’s Geneva Motor Show. Turns out the car in question is indeed a coachbuilt version of the Aston Martin Rapide, and it’s a shooting brake.
According to Autocar, the shooting brake Rapide is called the Jet 2+2 and it is part of Aston’s 60th birthday gifts to itself. This car follows Jet 2, which was a shooting brake version of the 2004 Vanquish.
Mechanically and technically, Jet 2+2 is the same as the standard Rapide, with a 470 horsepower V12 engine at the front, and four individual seats inside the cabin. The styling is remarkably different though, and not just the rear-end. Bertone’s design features a more prominent front grille, the wheel arches are revised, and thanks to the new C-pillar, the whole profile looks kinda cooler. The car also gets new rear bumper and new taillights inspired by the One-77 and the new Vanquish.
Bertone’s Jet 2+2 is not the first attempt at a shooting brake Rapide, as designer Theophilus Chin came up with one a few weeks ago. We have to say though, the Italian effort looks much better.
what the hell is wrong with those hatch back car? no one seem like the saloon anymore?
