The Mercedes CL-Class is on its last legs and will be replaced soon with a new S-Class Coupe. The new Aston Martin DB9, on the other hand, is hot out of the oven. The DB9 is like a fine cocktail with two parts DBS, two parts Virage, and a sprinkling of Vanquish on the top. On this episode of Head 2 Head MotoTrend‘s Jonny Lieberman puts these great super coupes up against each other to see which $200K V12-powered two-door luxury car is superior.
Both these cars are powered by 6.0 liter V12 engines, and although the Merc is much more powerful, the performance is basically the same with a 0 to 60 time of around 4.1 seconds for both cars. What sets them apart is the nature of delivery and their approach to luxury.
