Mercedes tuner Famous Parts, who have this very cool CL63 AMG to their credit, have come up with a treatment for the R230 Mercedes SL500. The old SL is still one of the most popular luxury roadsters, probably because the new R231 version is very ugly!
What FP does for the SL500 is put a wide body kit on it, plus some bits and bobs from its bigger brother, the SL63. The kit comes from Prior Design and consists of front and rear bumpers, side sills, and front and rear fender extensions. Revised side mirrors, and a boot lid spoiler complete the look.
The whole thing is then wrapped in white pearl matte metallic film – complemented with black accents – and fitted with a set of Type III FPX wheels, in size 8.5×20 inch with 255/30R20 in front and 11×20 inch with 295/25R20 Continental Sport Contact tyres in the rear. The tuner has also tweaked the car’s Active Body Control system to lower it, and used H&R wheel spacers for perfect fitment.
To tune the exhaust system on this car, Famous Parts took the rear section of SL63 AMG’s system and attached to the original SL500 tubes. A simple solution that gets the job done.
